BoJenx Boston Terriers

We are a small hobby breeder and fancier.  We got started in Boston Terriers in 2005 while looking for a dog for my daughter to show in the AKC Junior program.  The minute we got our first Boston we were hooked.  Not only my daughter but our whole family.  Boston Terriers are a most enduring breed, while small enough to be a true companion dog, a structurally sound Boston can compete in any and all sporting events.  Not only are they athletic but they are highly intelligent and only aim to please you as their human which makes them extremely easy to train.

Our only goal and desire as a breeder is to better the breed.  In order to do this we breed only to the official Boston Terrier standard.  All of our Boston Terriers are health tested  (CERF, BEAR and Patella) and registered with OFA.  As I plan to do more than conformation events with our Boston’s I also include a full spine x-ray to make sure they are sound enough to do agility events.  The Boston Terrier is a brachycephalic breed, brachy meaning short and cephalic meaning head.  There can be many inherent problems with this breed.  Some general problems that can occur without careful breeding are, stenotic nares, elongated soft palate, cleft palates, tracheal stenosis, and hernias.   Boston Terriers also have very prominent eyes and eye problems can run rampant.  Brachycephalic breeds are prone to heat stress, so special attention to environment is a must.  Having said all that there is no need to be frightened to own one of these lovable, most wonderful dogs.  You do however need to do your homework and thoroughly research your breeder.  The breeder is the key to obtaining a happy, healthy Boston.  When you are ready to get your first Boston, read all you can, study the official standard and ask many, many questions.  If the breeder can’t or won’t answer your questions find another one.  The Breeding of theses dogs is a huge undertaking, the average litter size is 3 and many times only one.  The pups are usually large and the dam typically requires a c-section for a safe delivery.  That and along with all the testing does not make this a profitable breed to breed.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about Boston Terriers.  While I am new to the breed I have spent countless hours learning and studying this breed.  Our Boston’s are family members first and show dogs second.  They have the run of the house and are only in crates while I’m out.  We feed Eagle Pack Holistic Duck or Chicken with a few spoonfuls of homemade wet food.  We also follow a

reduced vaccine protocol  which I feel is a safer way to vaccinate your Boston’s.

Thank you for visiting our website, I hope you enjoyed it.
